Domain Management
This is the central management interface for all your domains. Before assigning any of your domains to a hosting account (either as main domain or addon domain), it needs to be added here.
You have the following options:
- Register a new domain
- Transfer an existing domain from another registrar to Onlime GmbH
- Only add a domain (without registering/transferring it)
It's your choice! We don't ever want to push you registering domains with us or transferring them to us. But we do our best to offer them at a decent price and provide you with an exceptional domain management.
Domain Search
The button guides you the domain search, where you can check our pricing and search for domains.
You may search for explicit domains with a common TLD, or just by some word / search string, and we'll propose you a selection of domains with the most common TLDs (.CH / .COM / .NET / .ORG / .DE / .LI / .EU / .INFO / .ME / .IO / ...).
Once you have found a domain, click on either or . You can then decide if you want to register/transfer the domain or you can still choose «Don't register, only add domain» which would be the case if you want to manage the domain by yourself at another registrar.
Domain Registration Renewal
If you decide to register the domain with us or transfer it to us, we will always care about yearly domain registration renewal. We will never cancel a domain, unless you were not paying your bill and we tried to reach you several times over all possible ways. Unlike other hosting providers, you'll never loose your domain simply by paying a bill too late. We will always do our best to save your domain, and by default, it's always auto-renewed.
Whenever you register a domain by yourself at another registrar and you decide to only add the domain without transferring it to us, we recommend to set the following nameservers:
ns1.onlime.ch
ns2.onlime.ch
ns3.onlime.chLike this, you can use our simple yet powerful and flexible DNS manager. And like this, you never need to worry about any server migrations from our side, as we take care to update your DNS records accordingly.
Domain Overview
On the domain overview, you see all domains which you have added to your customer account. For every domain, there are badges that represent the current usage/setup, which is explained here:
Hosting
The hosting badge web999 tells you that the domain is assigned to an existing hosting, either as main domain or as an addon domain (domain alias/redirect/pointing).
If there is no such hosting badge, the domain was just added to your customer account, but is not (yet) used in any hosting. You may still use our DNS manager to create DNS records on such a domain, see Domain Settings (DNS).
DNS Status
Possible DNS Status badges:
| DNS Status | Description |
|---|---|
| active | The DNS zone has been activated on our nameservers (default). |
| inactive | The DNS zone has been deactivated. You may still create/edit DNS resource records for that domain, but the whole domain will stay inactive until you re-activate it here. |
DNS Zone Consistency
Please always keep your DNS zone consistent, meaning: Don't leave your DNS zone activated at Onlime GmbH if you don't have the nameservers of your domain pointed to ns1.onlime.ch, ns2.onlime.ch, ns3.onlime.ch.
If you decide to use some other DNS provider, make sure to deactivate the DNS zone here, by clicking on the DNS Status badge. And once you decide to migrate the nameservers back to ours, make sure to first re-enable the DNS zone here!
Domreg Status
«Domreg» stands for domain registration and the Domreg Status represents the current registration/transfer status. Possible badges:
| Domreg Status | Description |
|---|---|
PENDINGREG STARTEDTRANSFER STARTED | The domain registration or transfer is in pending state. PENDING means, that it was just recently added and the registration/transfer process has not yet started. For all other pending states, the badge's description should be self-explanatory.Some TLDs like .COM/.NET/.ORG may take 5 days to get transferred and will stay REG STARTED state during that time. |
| OK | The OK state means, that all is good and your domain was successfully registered or transferred. |
| external | The external badge tells you that the domain is managed by yourself, registered at another registrar. You'll find a button next to it that gives you the option to transfer the domain to us. Or, in case it was just added and not registered at any other registrar, you may also register it with that button. |
Domain Log
When clicking on the Domreg Status badge, we present you the full domain registration log. You can see the whole history of your domain registration/transfer, and you may also download the log in JSON format, including exact timestamps. This domain log comes from our registrar, so it directly represents the status your domain registration is in at any point of time.
For any further documentation of how to set the Domain Owner contact, change the Nameservers of your domain, or how to configure DNS Resource Records, please consult the Domain Settings (DNS) help docs.
